Battle of the Palmetto State

As soon as the Thanksgiving turkey is taken off the dinner table, everyone’s mind centers around the annual Clemson-Carolina Game.

…Or the Carolina-Clemson Game, it depends on who you ask really.

Rightfully dubbed the  “Battle of the Palmetto State”,  this epic rivalry has been making  South Carolinians (and everyone else) take sides since the late 1880’s. The fact that is it the third longest continuous rivalry in college football history and that the universities are only 132 miles apart help fuel the competitive fire. Just outside true Clemsostate riv.n territory, Greenville is the perfect gathering place for those who don’t have tickets to the big game. Locals and visitor dawn their Clemson orange or Carolina garnet garb and head to some their favorite spots to watch the big game with hopes of winning bragging rights until next year’s brawl on the ball field battle.

There are numerous places to watch the game in downtown Greenville, everywhere from our lobby to the swankiest of restaurants will be packed. For the true fan that wants to surround them-self with team memorabilia Carolina Ale House on Main Street is the perfect game viewing venue. With TVs on every wall, hot wings on the menu, and beer on tap, even the least enthusiastic of sports fans are sure to have a good time. Mac’s Speed Shop is sure to be packed with fans for the big event- our sales team highly suggest their chicken nachos and onion rings for game time snacking!  Fido all dressed up for the game too? At Mac’s you more than welcome to bring your pup if the weather is nice enough to sit outside on their dog friendly patio.

No matter where you end up watching the game, remember it is just a game. There’s always next year to win bragging right and baseball season is just around the corner! Win or lose, you still got to stay at RiverPlace, which is always a win- we’ll see you at check in!
